The epiglottis is a kind cartilage’s flap at the bottom of the tongue at the backside of the throat. While swallowing, epiglottis stops food from passing inside the windpipe or the trachea. When epiglottis becomes inflamed and swollen this is condition is referred as epiglottitis. This condition makes difficulty in-breath and spread very rapidly.
