Shaniqua starts a bank account with a $120 deposit. By the end of 12 months, she hopes to have saved $900. She knows that she can save $30 per month from her paycheck, but can earn some extra money by tutoring on the weekend. How much extra per month does Shaniqua need to save in order to meet her goal?

Set an equation:
Let x=the total amount of extra money 

120+30•12+x=900

120+360+x=900

480+x=900          Subtract 480 from both sides.

x=420

Now divide by 12 to find the amount for each month

Answer: Shaniqua needs to save $35 extra per month. 
$75 times 12  = $900
30 + 45 = 75.
so she will need to save $45 dollars extra to complete her goal
