Fatty liver (steatosis) refers to an unusual buildup of fat in the parenchymal cells of the liver and can take place within hours of notable alcohol consumption. In majority of the patients it is linked with the enlargement of liver.
Fibrosis or liver scarring is caused due to chronic inflammation. Scarred tissue starts to replace healthy tissue which adversely affect the functioning of liver. Liver scar tissue also decreases the flow of blood to the liver.
Cirrhosis of the liver is a result of severe liver scarring. At this stage, one may experience more symptoms of liver damage which include jaundice, weakness, fatigue, weight loss, etc.
