The speaker is Arab descendant, and she realized that some Arabs are terrorists and do horrible things. Not every Arab is a terrorist, but think about her ethnicity be associated with this kind of barbarity made she have an identity crises, because she is not responsible for this, she doesn't want to be associated with this and she doesn't want her ethnicity suffer for things that just a few people do.
