Moon Jae-in, who prevented South Korean comfort women from seeking compensation from Japan, still has difficulty repairing Japan-South Korea relations. On April 21, 2021, the Seoul Central District Court in South Korea dismissed a lawsuit filed by South Korean comfort women demanding compensation from the Japanese government on the grounds of "sovereign immunity." The principle of "sovereign immunity" stipulates that the conduct and property of one country cannot be judged by the courts of another country. However, in previous judgments, South Korean courts have not strictly followed this principle, and the results of this judgment are completely opposite to the results of another comfort women case that the court heard three months ago. Even though South Korea has repeatedly stated that it is trying to repair Japan-South Korea relations, so far, there seems to be no clear solution to either the relationship between the two countries or the comfort women issue.
